Top Ten Things to Do Before They Grow Up

November 08, 2008

One moment you're changing dirty diapers and the next you're teaching them how to drive.

Memphis is great for all ages but some things are better experienced while they're still young.

Here's my top ten list of things to do with your kids before they grow up [and get too cool].

1. A. Schwab - There's a reason why this one's in all of the travel books.  It may be a store, but it's every little kid's dream.  Be sure to check out the second floor.

2. Casey Jones Village - Great tours and WONDERFUL fudge.

3. Children's Museum of Memphis - This one's an obvious choice.  There are really great exhibits throughout the year that change ever couple of months.  There's also a theatre.

4. Golf and Games Family Park - Putt-Putt is a favorite of almost any small child but can be very "uncool" to the older set.  For older kids, there are bumper boats.

5. Pink Palace Museum - This is a staple of Memphis.  There is nothing like taking a child to the Pink Palace for the first time and seeing the wonder in their eyes.  Go and go often.

6. Peabody Ducks - If your kid is really lucky, he/she might be able to be the Master of the Ducks.

7. The Zoo - The zoo regularly has scheduled "kid friendly" events.  Call ahead or check out their website for information.

8.America's Incredible Pizza Company - You can't go wrong with pzza and games.

9. AutoZone Park Tours - Get a behind the scenes looks at what helps a baseball game go off without a hitch.

10. Chucalissa Museum - An active archeological site that provides even the most picky little one with something to learn and do.
