A season of rituals

December 01, 2008

Well, guys, "that time of the year" is officially here.  Most people around here didn't even wait for the turkey to be digested before they started putting up the Christmas lights and hanging the wreaths.

For a lot of people, putting up Christmas decorations right after Thanksgiving is a ritual of sorts that they do every year.  I'm sure you have holiday rituals that you do every year.

Christmas wouldn't be the same without them.  These rituals/traditions are what make your Christmas different from your neighbor's.

This month's theme at Savvy Source is Celebrating Rituals and Routines.  Both are essential to a young child's [and parent's] mental and physical well- being and should be an interesting theme to explore.  With this being December, obviously some of the routines and rituals are going to center around Christmas and Hanukkah but there are tons of little routines that keep the proverbial wheels greased and I think it's important to talk about those as well since they're the real "meat and potatoes" of parenting.

What daily routines or rituals do you and your kids do?
